Control Trac® 4WD System

Sometimes the transition from the main road to the off road can be tricky, be it a muddy or loose gravel surface. That’s when the available Control Trac® 4WD System with Electronic Limited-Slip Differential kicks in to offer better traction. When activated, this system locks the rear axle completely to optimize traction at both wheels simultaneously, improving off-road performance when the terrain requires it. And it’s smooth sailing from there. This feature is standard on the Timberline model and on all 4x4 Expeditions.

Hill Descent Control

This feature is essentially a cruise control system that uses traction control technology with anti-lock brakes, which continually adjusts braking pressure to help control slippage and maintain a constant preset speed while you’re going down a steep grade. This allows you to concentrate on steering since you don’t have to apply the brakes or downshift the transmission.
